How to make it

  1. Cut tofu into blocks and pan-fry until golden on both sides; boil eggs, peel.
  2. In a small pot, combine water, soy sauce, sugar, and star anise; bring to a boil.
  3. Add tofu and eggs; braise on low 12 minutes.
  4. Turn off heat and steep 10 minutes.
