Air-Fryer Garlic Shrimp

Pat shrimp completely dry before marinating—air-fry time is short; too long and they shrink and toughen.

Steps

How to make it

Prep 10 min · Cook 8 min

  1. Rinse shrimp (200 g) under running water; devein if needed; pat thoroughly dry with paper towels. Mince garlic (4 cloves).
  2. In a bowl, mix olive oil (1 tbsp), soy sauce (1 tsp), lemon juice (1 tsp), salt, black pepper, and garlic into a marinade.
  3. Toss shrimp with the marinade until evenly coated; rest 8 minutes to absorb flavor.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 190°C for 3 minutes.
  5. Arrange shrimp in the basket in one layer, separated—not stacked—so each shrimp heats evenly.
  6. Air-fry at 190°C for 4 minutes; open, flip, then air-fry 3 minutes more until shells turn pink-orange and bodies curl.
  7. Flesh should be opaque and springy. Squeeze a little more lemon juice if desired and serve immediately while hot.

Tips & storage

Make it easier

  • Leave heads on for aroma if you like—rinse and dry them first.
  • Pat ingredients dry and arrange them in a single layer with room for airflow so they brown evenly.

Best fresh; reheated shrimp turn tough overnight.

FAQ

Can I use frozen shrimp?

Yes—thaw completely and pat very dry or they’ll steam and weep.

How should I adjust the air-frying time for different thicknesses?

Start with the stated time and check the thickest piece. Add 2–3 minutes at a time rather than extending the cook in one large jump.
